Koralawella is a slum in the Moratuwa coastal area - the outskirts of Colombo in the Western Part of Sri Lanka. There are about 65 families in this region and this was adopted in January 2018. Their main occupation was fishing and manual labour and the women lead the families. Alcoholism and drug addiction among men and young adults have been a big social issue in this region. Furthermore, the rate of school dropouts was high.

The activities carried out in this region are,

  • School bags and stationery distribution to 125 students and Youths follow up to make sure children do not drop out of school.
  • A medical camp was conducted for around 165 people. They were treated and medicines were given free of cost.
  • A workshop on hygiene and cleanliness was conducted.
  • A beach clean-up involving the community was organized by the youths.
