Nerupuram village is situated in the Eastern region of Sri Lanka and was adopted in the year 2012. Initially there were 23 families in this region in which most of them are were displaced from their initial locations and the men in these families are daily waged, labourers. Furthermore, child abuse and ill-treating of women was taking place. This village had many legal and illegal cases. Taking all situations and needs into consideration, the following activities were carried out,

  • Construction of 10 new houses.
  • Renovation of 2 houses.
  • Supply of electricity to 20 houses.
  • Water supply to 21 houses.
  • Construction of 31 toilets.
  • Livelihood support to 2 families.
  • Construction of EHV Hall/study center for students.
  • Conducting Pre School for 10 children.
  • Weekly EHV classes for 35 children.
  • Distribution of cultural dresses to EHV students and other children on special occasions such as Diwali, Swami’s birthday and festivals. (35 children)
  • Annual Medical camp for more than 200 beneficiaries.
  • Monthly and occasional Narayana Seva.
  • Distribution of clothes/sarees to all villagers on various occasions.
  • Tuition classes for all students.
  • Monthly season tickets to utilize public transport are issued to all students.
  • 6 bicycles were given to students.
  • Easwaramma Day Celebrations.
  • Conduct Students’ sports festival.
  • Awareness programs on a regular basis and on special days such as Mahila’s day.
  • Distribution of stationery and other school equipment.
  • Shramadhana and tree planting campaigns.
  • With the accelerated Sai activities in this region the number of families who have settled here has increased to 45 families. Furthermore, bhajans were conducted on Thursdays at their homes and at the village temple every Friday are Nagara Sankeerthan by parents and students are ongoing. Students have become initiators of the values at their homes and today, a standard life is being maintained throughout the village.
