Livelihood Program in Mallawi Inaugurated by SSC Vavuniya.

2017-10-06 | Sathya Sai Centre of Vavuniya | Mallawi

The Sathya Sai Centre of Vavuniya inaugurated a livelihood project in Mallawi yesterday where machinery and tools to produce mats were donated to a community of weavers. The beneficiaries were 20 ladies who are from families that have been affected by the war and had been displaced many years ago. Having been resettled recently, they had started making a livelihood to support their families by weaving mats - and from today will be able to take their production capacity to better heights with the machinery and tools provided.

Members of the SSIO also came across similar stories where many other women with the same sense of entrepreneurs in the village produce hand made cotton sarees, shalwar tops, and sarongs to earn an income and support their families.

Their stories are truly an inspiration for many more war-affected families like themselves in the area.
