About Sri Sathya Sai International Organisation of Sri Lanka


The Sri Sathya Sai International Organisation in Sri Lanka has been in existence since 1963. Written permission was obtained from the Poorna Avatar Himself to conduct the Annual General Meeting in February 1969.

In the global context, for administrative purposes, the SSIO comprises of 126 countries, divided among 9 geographical zones. As a representation of the Sathya Sai Mission in Asia, the National Councils of Bhutan, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Thailand are collectively represented as the Zone 04 Countries of the SSIO.

In the local context, Sri Lanka is divided into five geographical areas called regions, with a total of 79 Sathya Sai Centers (SSCs) and Sai Devotional Groups (SDGs), all of which are governed by the National Council of SSSIO Sri Lanka. Administratively, the structure of SSSIO Sri Lanka is divided into Geographical Regions, Activity Wings, and Project/Task oriented National Sub Committees, each with a Chairperson or Coordinator assigned to report directly to the National Council President.


The National Council

The National Council is the managing body of the Sai Mission in every country, whose primary responsibilities are as follows:

  1. To guide and supervise the working of the various constituents of the Organisation.
  2. To uphold international rules and regulations and provide guidelines for the operation of the Organisation.
  3. To determine all matters requiring authoritative decision in the Organisation and in relation to its constituent units.
  4. To convene meeting of members or officers of the Organisation as may be necessary from time to time.
  5. To compile information relating to the workings of the Organisation.
