The Corona Virus, an ongoing viral pandemic has impacted the lives of many in Sri Lanka and globally. As of 07 April 2020, 185 confirmed cases have been reported and 6 deaths have occurred in Sri Lanka. To curb the spread of this disease, the government had announced a work from the home week and ordered a mandatory curfew from the 17th of March to date in various parts of the country.
With Swami’s divine grace our volunteers took immediate steps in providing cook food, dry rations and other required items to those in need.
Western and Southern Region

Sathya Sai Center - Colombo was able to assist with the provision of half shoes to doctors working at one of the main hospitals treating the Covid-19 patients on 19th March 2020.

Few residents from the adopted village Mattakuliya, Colombo who are daily wage workers had requested for distribution of dry ration packs so they can manage to go about the curfew days and provide for their families. Though the Young Adults had to face many challenges such as getting a curfew pass and getting a shop opened during the curfew hour’s, with Swami’s blessings they were able to provide dry ration packs consisting of essential items to 27 families on 22nd March 2020.

Young Adults of the Sathya Sai Center – Colombo found out that the people who live on the street do not get at least a meal for a day due to the curfew. Hence, the YAs decided to prepare food at home and distributed to the needy people since 03-04-20 and is now an ongoing Seva.
Northern Region

The Northern region had conducted a preventive program in the villages that have been adopted under the Sathya Sai Village Integrated Program (SSVIP) on 18th and 19th March 2020.

Dry rations were given to 130 identified families from the adopted villages. Arrangements are being made to distribute dry rations to another 455 families.
Eastern Region

The Eastern region had conducted a preventive program in the villages that have been adopted under the Sathya Sai Village Integrated Program (SSVIP) on the 21st and 22nd March 2020.
- The Eastern region of Sri Lanka has the greatest number of adopted villagers (SSVIP). Dry rations were distributed to 500 families from 4th Colony, Nerupuram, Sri Vallipuram, Thandiyadi, Kalimadu, Karadiyankulam and Pavakodichchenai adopted villagers in the Ampara district.
North Central Region
- 100 families were provided dry ration packs on 01.04.2020 upon the request of the District Secretary, Divisional Secretary at Poomalarnthan village (Mannar district). Arrangements are being made to distribute dry rations to another 475 families in Mullaitivu, Kilinochchi & Vavuniya district.
