Every year during the Esala Festival, thousands of pilgrims visit the holy land of Lord Skantha in Katharagama on the South-East side of Sri Lanka. Many devout families and communities travel a great distance by means of Padha Yathra and set camp along the banks of the river adjoining the temple premises for 2 weeks as a form of intense Sadhana (spiritual practice.) As much as the strong mind of the devotee helps undertake this practice, the physical exertion on their body tries to take a toll that can seldom be endured. With Bhagawan's grace, this year too Sathya Sai Centre Colombo, Barnes Place conducted its annual seven day long medical camp during the last week of the festival from 10th July to 16th July with the support of Medical Team (consisting of doctors, pharmacists and volunteers) of the Sathya Sai International Organisation of Sri Lanka to serve those who develop ailments or illnesses while undertaking this challenging, yet pious sadhana..
